FORWARD ®: Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System

Background

Over the last decade there has been a remarkable increase in available technology.  In order to survive companies must utilise a selection of these technologies to improve efficiency and provide better customer service.  This is a true for PBD as for any other company.

In order to ensure the availability of real-time information, PBD implement FORWARD ® as its Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system in 2008.  Over the last couple of years we have continuously improved the system to ensure in time and accurate information to our customers and the various agents.   Although this information was available on the system there was still a delay in getting it to our customers and agents to actively manage their businesses.  In light of this need PBD-Lime will be implementing a notification system that will provide the following:

Farmer Control:

  • A SMS will be sent to the farmers the moment the truck leaves the weighbridge indicating all relevant information or,
  • An E-mail will be sent to the farmers indication the previous 24-hours’ loads as well as all loads linked to the customer order.

Customer management:

  • An E-mail will be sent daily to the agents indicating all the loads per farmer that were loaded the previous day as well as the remaining tonnage per order.

Transporter Control:

  • An E-mail will be sent to the transporter indicating all the loads that were loaded at a site per truck.

Calmasil Development

PBD is making the investment to ensure that all parties in the supply chain are 100% up to date with product being supplied from a PBD-Lime operation.  We believe that the following benefits will be realized:

  • Farmers know how many loads have been loaded and when the load has left the site to plan the receiving of the load as well as being able to reconcile delivery notes.
  • Agents will up to date with all farmers’ deliveries and can assist in the required scheduling of loads.
  • Transporters will be able to reconcile delivery notes as soon as the trucks return to the yard and upload the various loads directly into their systems ensuring accurate invoicing.

PBD-Lime is confident that this new innovation will maintain its position as the preferred agricultural limestone supplier.
